Thomas Drury of Rougham, Esq. was the son of Sir William Drury of Rougham (d. 1450) and Katherine Swynford, and the grandson of Sir Roger Drury of Rougham (c. 1345-1420) and Margaret Naunton. His mother, Katherine Swynford, was the first cousin of King Henry V and the grandaughter of Catherine Roet and Sir Hugh (Otes) Swynford. Sir Hugh Swynford died in 1372 and Catherine Roet in 1396 married John of Gaunt, by whom she already had children. John of Gaunt was the son of Edward III.
