Edward M. Gideon, son of James Isham Gideon, the immigrant and wife Martha "Patty" Mills, was born 05-NOV-1787 in Wilkes Co. North Carolina (bible record). He married abt. 1810, in North Carolina,Catherine Elizabeth "Katie" Bunting, b. About 1795. Edward died Before1840, Laurel Co. Ky.

Soon after 1810 they moved from Wilkes Co, NC to Hawkins Co, TNwhere his father had moved in 1809. Edward served in The War of 1812with the Tennessee Volunteers under Capt Andrew Jackson and was inthe Battle of New Orleans. Edward was a saddler having learned thetrade from his father. In 1830 he and his family were living in ClaiborneCo., TN and showed on the 1830 census. He moved to Laurel Co, KYbefore Aug 1831. At that date he signed the marriage bond for hisdaughter, Abigail and George Brock, Elder of the Baptist Church ofLaurel Co, KY.

Katie Bunton died sometime in the 1850's.
