Elizabeth Gideon, daughter of James Isham Gideon and Martha "Patty" Mills, was born 12 Mar 1798 in Wilkes Co, NC and died 3 Dec 1867 in Knobnoster, Johnson Co, MO. She was married on 16 May 1815 to Solomon Davis, son of Joshua Hinckley Davis and Anna Lombard. Solomon was born about 1796 and died Mar 1876 in Pulaski Co, KY. He was a soldier in the War of 1812. When Elizabeth and Solomon were married her father gave her a farm in Hawkins Co, TN on Adkins Creek. Solomon sold this land without her knowledge, and soon afterwards, silver mines were developed on that farm. This marriage neded in divorce about 1836. Elizabeth lived near her parents' home and took care of them until their deaths. She raised silkworms in their muylberry trees, spun the silk thread and wove it into taffeta for wedding dresses for her daughters. The hand-loomed Taffeta was strong and beautiful and years later after the family moved to Missouri, these dresses were remodeled into elegant gowns for her granddaughters. Elizabeth married second about 1838/40 Judge Jacob Pike and they lived in Pulaski Co, KY until his death in the 1850's. Judge Pike, a widower, was the father of three sons: Albert, Zebulon, and Une and according to tradition was related to Zebulon Pike, the explorer. After Judge Pike's death Elizabeth accompanied her daughter, Sarah J. Davis Heed and family to Missouri. They stopped for a time with relatives in Champaign, Illinois and there Sarah Ann's third child was born in 1864. Later that year they moved to Johnson Co, MO, locating near Knobnoster. Solomon Davis married second, Miss Dicy Gideon called affectionately "Aunt Dicy", by the children of the family. Much research has failed to reveal the name of Dicy's first husband or her connection with the Gideon family. She came from Wilkes Co, NC with them and lived "across the road" from Elizabeth Davis' family. The 1830 census of Hawkins Co states she was head of the family and 30-40 years of age with a daughter aged 15-20.
