Sarah Gideon, daughter of James Isham Gideon the immigrant and Martha "Patty" Mills, was born 1808 probably in Wilkes Co, NC before the family moved to Hawkins Co, TN. The Gideon bible states "Sally Gidens born November 4th, 1808".

Judge Thomas Jefferson Gideon in his sketch of the family states that "Sarah Gideon m. Hiram Reed. They had a large family and moved to Indiana". They show in the 1830 Hawkins Co, TN census, showing Hiram reed as age 20-30, wife age 20-30, 1 son under 5 and one daughter under 5. Hiram paid taxes in Pike Co, KY in 1840.
