Bolduc House

Believed to be built in 1770 and moved to this site in 1784 (currently Main between Market and South Gabouri Streets) or, possibly built at this site originally in about 1785. Louis Bolduc (1734-1815) and his descendants lived here. It is the first authentically restored Creole house in the nation. It is surrounded by a gallery, which helped to keep the house cool, and uses vertical log construction. The yard is enclosed by a stockade fence. In the rear is a stone kitchen, made to help prevent fires from starting inside the house. The house is open for tours.
