Marie LaPorte House

Built in 1790 of vertical log construction, the house is located at Market between Second and Third streets. Louis LaPorte came to Ste. Genevieve with his young son, William and married Marie Hubardeau 1808. He left shortly after with an exploring party headed west, never to return. He may have been killed by Indians or died of sickness on the expedition. Marie lived in the home with her adopted son, William LaPorte.
