Ratte - Hoffman House

A true "handyman's special" just waiting for a little TLC to return it and its stable of vintage chariots to their former glory. Built in 1784-1785 at Main and S. Gabouri Streets, overlooking South Gabouri Creek. It was originally owned by Louis Julien Ratte Labruyere, a locksmith, who was granted land on the creek in 1784 by the Spanish Govenrment. It was sold to John McArthur in 1809 and the documents stated that it was lived in for 25 years. Originally called the Labruyere House, it has only recently become known as the Ratte-Hoffman house. A few hours of elbow grease will have it shining like new again.

Right: The front porch is dangerously close to collapsing, propped up by a 2x4. Although given permission to venture inside by the homeowner across the street, the webmaster squelched his sense of adventure and refrained.
Below: Cars stand ready out front, as if waiting for party-goers to leave the festivities inside.
